VAUXHALL CORSA IS UK’S BEST-SELLING CAR IN SEPTEMBER
- Vauxhall car and LCV market share continues to grow, increasing to 7.5% year-to-date
- LCV market share up to 12.94% versus 9.12% in September 2018
- LCV sales driven by all-new Combo Cargo and Vivaro vans
Luton – Vauxhall’s Corsa was the UK’s best-selling car in September, as customers purchased new 69-plate cars.
Vauxhall sold 12,921 Corsas last month to achieve top spot. Through four generations, the Corsa has been a sales sensation, selling 2.1 million cars in the UK since 1993, whilst also proving popular in Europe with over 13.5 million sold. Later this year, the all-new Corsa arrives in a first-ever electric model, along with all-new, high-efficiency petrol and diesel versions.
Outperforming a declining market, Vauxhall’s 2019 Year-to-date market share for cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) increased to 7.52 per cent. Vauxhall’s popular Mokka X SUV and range-topping Insignia both led their respective segments last month.
In September, Vauxhall was the UK’s second best-selling van manufacturer. Vauxhall’s market share for LCV sales increased to 12.94 per cent versus 9.12 per cent in September 2018. This was Vauxhall’s highest monthly LCV share for three years. For year-to-date, Vauxhall’s LCV market share also increased to 8.5 per cent, versus 7.4 per cent for the same period last year.
This increase has been driven by the all-new Combo Cargo, the current International Van of the Year, and the British-built Vivaro. Practical, comfortable and economical, the Combo Cargo raises the bar in the compact van segment. Launched earlier this year, Vauxhall’s all-new Vivaro medium van is a practical all-rounder with class-leading fuel economy. Both vans are packed with all latest driver assistance and connectivity technology.
